Camp Department Leader
I'm the Camp Department Leader at Kids First Sports Center. I started playing, I mean working at Kids First in September 2013. I run a summer day camp from June-August and a holiday camp in December and January each year. I love my job! I get to plan a summer of fun for kids and counselors, and often times, I get to partake in quite a bit of fun myself. My favorite part of working in camp is the kids, obviously! Every day is a new and exciting challenge working with some of my favorite people on the planet and the rewards truly are endless. My first job at 16 was working as a summer camp counselor at the YMCA. I worked summer camps for the YMCA for five out of the next six summers while finishing high school and attending college (that one summer I missed was torture....) (not really... but it definitely wasn't anything like summer camp). The one thing that I couldn't get past were the kids and how big of an impact they made on me year after year. I realized as I finished college and started life in the 'real world' that no matter what jobs I had (and there were quite a few in that span of a few years after college), I just couldn't find that elusive happiness I remembered as a camp counselor. So, I found the job of my dreams running camps here at Kids First. I love spending time and getting to know each of our campers, watching them grow and make new friends, experience new things and find their unique talents through our hands-on, fun camp weeks.
